Course Types - Competencies Addressed

Human Resources | Learning & Development | Course Type Details | Course Types | Competencies Addressed tab

Summary

Competency is "the ability to perform activities within an occupation or function to the standard expected in employment". Often an employee attends a course to address a lack of competency in an area.

The Competencies Addressed tab contains the competencies that attendees can acquire in this type of course.

Employees

When you close a course, attendees with Status = "Passed" gain any competencies and qualifications associated with this type of course. PayGlobal copies the Competencies records and Qualification Types records from the Course Types record to the Employees records to create Employee Competencies and Employee Qualifications records.

Training Plans

When you add a Course Type to an employee's Training Plan (see Training Plan Course Types - Details), you can copy competencies from the Course Type to the Training Plan to create Training Plan Competencies records.

Procedure

To associate competencies with a Course Types record:

  1. On the Course Types | Competencies Addressed tab, click Edit.
  2. Press Insert.

The Select Competencies pick list appears.

  3. Click checkboxes to select the Competencies that you want to associate with this record.
  4. Click OK.
