Grid Reporting - Sorting or Grouping

Summary

Records can be sorted or grouped:

  • To display totals for each group of employees and then a grand total for all employees.
  • To sort the Grid into groups for you to report on. For example you can print a list of employee phone numbers sorted by department for each Departmental Manager.
  • To enable you to use the Generate Chart feature, there must be at least one grouped column.

Examples of grouping are by Department, Location or Pay Period.

Procedure

To group the Employee Grid by Department Description:

  1. Click Employees on the PayGlobal Tree.
  2. Press Ctrl+U to open Customise Columns.
  3. Type 'dep' to jump to Department code.
  4. Click the '+' beside Department Code.
  5. Click in the check box beside Description below Department Code.
  6. Click OK.

    The Department Description column has been added to the Grid.

  7. Click on the Department Description header and drag it to the dark grey area above the column headers.
  8. Expand each group by clicking the '+' or the '-' to contract them.

You can now:

  • Generate a Grid Report which will group the report under Department Code headings.
  • Generate Chart which will visually display the percentage of each department within the Company.
