A tour is a Roster pattern for a defined cycle length or duration and is sometimes called a rotating Roster. This rostering style is more common for part-time and full-time employees and is not generally used for casual employees. The cycle length is determined by the number of days that elapse before the tour repeats itself.
A Tour requires a duration to be specified. Several shifts combine to make a Tour. A Shift code is specified for each working day in a Tour cycle. Tours are attached to large groups of employees and employees may enter at any point of a tour.
Tours are a method of creating a recurring pattern of rostered shifts for an employee; where the length of the pattern can be any number of days.
Tours are created, shifts are added and then the completed Tour is attached to the employee record.
Example
Employees work a 14-day Tour consisting of two sets of shifts:
Days 1 to 5 |
Days 6 and 7 |
Days 8 to 12 |
Days 13 and 14 |
0700 - 1500 |
Days off |
1700 - 2300 |
Days off |
This Tour is attached to an employee on the date they start work at a company. Employees often start on different days in a Tour cycle.
Changing a Tour
When a Tour changes, the change applies to all employees attached to the Tour.
When an employee's future Roster changes, the Timeband Overrides or Shift Overrides tab page in the employee record also changes.
