What is a Shift?

A Shift is an allocation of working time, usually on a daily basis, for example 0800 to 1800.

If an employee, by default, works a particular shift, or for the majority of their time works on a specific shift, the default is specified in the Shift field.

In PayGlobal, Shifts and Shift Overrides are set up and edited in Daily View.

Shifts override any Tours that may be associated with individual employees.

There are three tab pages in the Shifts entity:

Description

Details

Records timebands for a shift. A timeband is the length of time that a shift runs for. For example, '0800 - 1700'.

Group

Shift Groups record common costing information that is shared between shifts. You can override the settings of a shift group using the Costing tab page.

Costing

Use the Costing tab page to associate costs that are incurred with a shift. These settings override other costs for a shift.
