Absolute Breaks

Absolute Breaks occur at specific times, regardless of the employee's work time. Looking at the screen shot below, you can see that this Break has been set up as an Absolute Break between 1200 and 1300. If an employee's work hours span these times, then PayGlobal will insert this break.

Important: Absolute Breaks and Relative Breaks must have different codes.

Up to three breaks can be applied during an employee's shift, but only one (1200 to 1300) has been set up in this example.

Absolute Breaks

When to use

An Absolute Break requires fixed Start and End times. Absolute Breaks would normally be used for employees who work set hours each day. For example, a receptionist works 0800 to 1700, with a one-hour break for lunch every day between 1200 and 1300.

After creating an Absolute Break you can attach the Break, as a default, to the receptionist's employee record.

Procedure

Complete the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Rostering | Breaks.
  2. Press Insert. You will reach the Add Breaks screen.
  3. Enter a Code. For example, A01.
  4. Enter a Description. For example, Lunch Break.

You only need to complete the 'Absolute' section.

  5. Click Save + Close.
  6. Navigate to the Break field in the employee's record.
  7. Click the Break field pick list button
  8. Select the A01 break code. Click Save + Close.
