Summary

Course types are the templates on which the actual courses are based. Course Types records contain generic course values that you can use when you create a Courses record. For example, all First Aid courses would be based on one First Aid Course Types record.

Course Type Structure

The following diagram shows the entities and makeup records that are used in Course Types records. Although you can add Course Classifications, Course Categories and Work Area Positions to Course Types records, no corresponding makeup table is displayed in the PayGlobal Tree.

Prerequisite Records

Before you can create Course Types records, you need to set up the following types of entity records:

• Course Classifications
• Course Categories
• Competencies
• Subjects
• Positions
• Work Area Positions
• Institutions
• Qualification Types
• Learning Outcomes

  Create simple Code and Description records for Learning Outcomes to define the knowledge and skills that employees are expected to gain by completing courses.

• Course Feedback

  Create simple Code and Description records for Course Feedback to define the criteria that you want employees to use to evaluate courses.

• Course Resources
• Any prerequisite Course Types.

  Note: Alternatively, you could create these records from within pick lists in the Course Types record.
