Course Types

Summary

Course types are the templates on which the actual courses are based. Course Types records contain generic course values that you can use when you create a Courses record. For example, all First Aid courses would be based on one First Aid Course Types record.

Course Types Default Values

Information that you set up in a Course Types record can be copied to courses that are based on that record, and subsequently to employees who successfully complete those courses. The following diagram shows the Course Types default values that are used in Courses and Employees records:

  • Courses

    When you create a Courses record, PayGlobal can Copy Defaults from the Course Types record.

  • Employees

    When you close a course, PayGlobal copies the Competencies and Qualification Types from the Course Types record to the Employees records of attendees with Status = "Passed".

Creating Course Types

After you set up the prerequisite entity records (see Course Type Details), use the following process to create Course Types records.

  1. Add a Course Types record.
  2. Enter Details (i) tab values, such as Default Course Classification and Default Course Category.
  3. Enter Details (ii) tab values.

    If you add a Number of days value, and then save the record, PayGlobal creates the corresponding Course Type Days makeup records on the Days tab page.

  4. Enter Objective tab text.
  5. Save the Course Types record.
  6. Associate Competencies with the Course Types record.
  7. Check Course Type Days makeup records on the Days tab page.
  8. Associate Subjects with the Course Types record.
  9. Associate Positions with the Course Types record.
  10. Associate WAPs with the Course Types record.
  11. Associate Institutions with the Course Types record.
  12. Associate Qualification Types with the Course Types record.
  13. Associate Learning Outcomes with the Course Types record.
  14. Associate Course Feedback with the Course Types record.
  15. Create Course Type Course Resources records.

    Enter Course Resource and Quantity.

  16. Associate prerequisites with the Course Types record.
